Safeguarding NPO Integrity: PHF Participates in FATF Consultation

Partners for Humanity Foundation (PHF) recently participated in a critical consultation process held at Maanzoni Lodge on 4th–5th March 2026. This engagement was organized by the Kenya NPO Working Group on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), focusing on the evolving regulatory landscape for nonprofit organizations.

Addressing Critical Global Issues

Illicit financial flows, money laundering, and the financing of terrorism remain critical issues that nonprofit organizations must proactively address. The Working Group continues to play a key role in strengthening compliance, accountability, and transparency within the sector, particularly in alignment with FATF Recommendation 8 and Kenya’s efforts toward being removed from the FATF grey list.

Collaborative Progress

It is encouraging to see the progress being made through collaborative engagement. The Risk-Based Approach (RBA) tool developed through this initiative has significantly informed the RBA framework currently being utilized by #PBORA.

Protecting the Civic Space

I appreciate the opportunity to contribute to these important discussions and to be part of collective efforts aimed at safeguarding the integrity and sustainability of the nonprofit sector, all while protecting the Civic Space from over-securitization.
